Reno Greco Signed, Engraved and Gold Inlaid Belgian Browning 20 Gauge Midas Grade Superposed Skeet Shotgun
Manufactured in 1967, this gun features dual white bead sights on the matted vent rib, standard markings, wedge scroll engraving at the breech, 3 inch chambers with automatic ejectors, and skeet/skeet chokes (“$/$”).
The blued action displays full coverage scroll engraving on a punchdot background surrounding game bird scenes: a trio of pheasant on the left, three mallards on the right, and a grouse on the underside. The birds are rendered in fine semi-relief gold inlay with gold inlaid borders around the side scenes. The engraving is signed “GRECO” on both sides of the action at the low rear for FN engraver Reno Greco.
The triggerguard and tangs feature matching scroll and checkerboard patterns, with a blank initial shield at the center of the guard. The gun is fitted with a highly figured Midas Grade pattern multi-point checkered Lightning-style forend with engraved forend iron and a round knob short tang pistol grip stock. The stock has a gold inscription oval marked “W/E/S” and a Browning recoil pad.
Barrel and stock measurements: bore diameter nine inches from the breech .625/.625 inches; choke constriction .005/.005 inches; minimum wall thickness .034/.037 inches; 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 2 1/8 inch drop at heel; 14 3/8 inch length of pull; weight 6 lbs. 7 oz.
Excellent overall, retaining 99% original blue and gold finishes with limited handling evidence, a few tiny scratches in the wood finish, and sharp checkering on the stock and forend. Mechanically excellent.
