Factory Philipp Reinhard Gold Inlaid and Relief Game Scene Engraved Hambrusch Triggerplate Drilling Two Barrel Set with Two Zeiss Scopes and Case

$ 13899.99

This exquisite double rifle is built with blued Bohler Antinit steel barrels, featuring a beaded blade front sight, flip-up rear sight, and German-style claw mounts fitted with a Zeiss Diavari-Z 2.5-10x52mm scope. The barrels bear 1980 dated proofs; the 16-gauge barrel has a 2 3/4-inch chamber and a .028-inch choke constriction. Both barrels are adorned with oak leaf and scrolling gold inlaid line work at the breech, with matching embellishments on the front claw base and scope mounts.

The barrels are mated to a coin-finished triggerplate action with false sideplates and Kersten crossbolts. The action displays deep-relief engraving of oak leaves and game scenes: a wild boar confronted by two dogs on the left, a chamois on the underside, and a doe and fawn facing a fox on the right. Finely inlaid gold line work and scrolls enhance the overall elegance. Though unsigned, this work is attributed to Master Engraver Philipp Reinhard, per correspondence from Peter Hambrusch to a previous owner.

Additional features include bushed firing pins, a left-lockplate selector, double single-set triggers, and a tang-mounted manual safety with gold “S” marking. The gun is mounted with a beautifully figured forend, engraved and gold-inlaid forend iron, and a pistol grip stock with a capercallie engraved on the grip cap, gold inlay, raised cheekpiece, and Pachmayr recoil pad.

Included is a second 24 7/8-inch barrel set chambered for .222 Remington over 30-06, with matching engraving, its own three-piece forend, and a Zeiss Diavari ZM 2.5-10x50mm T* scope. The set comes complete with a wood and canvas takedown case. Length of pull is 14 5/8 inches; weight 9 lbs. 10 oz. with scope.

Condition

Excellent overall, retaining 99% original blue, gold, and coin finishes with minor handling evidence, stress line at upper tang, and sharp checkering on the stock and forend. The extra barrel set is excellent. Both scopes have sharp optics. The case is very fine. Mechanically excellent
