A multi-state carry permit class provides essential firearms safety training and legal education for individuals seeking to obtain a Florida Concealed Weapon or Firearm License (CWFL). Taught by certified instructors, these classes cover safe firearm handling, storage, operation, and an overview of relevant state laws, including when and where concealed carry is permitted. Attendees also complete a live-fire exercise, which is required to demonstrate basic proficiency.

Yes, unless you’re carrying under the permitless carry provision for qualified individuals

A CWFL allows: Reciprocity in over 30 states. Faster firearm purchases (no 3-day wait). Ability to carry in more locations (e.g., in schools during drop-off/pick-up zones under specific conditions). Legal protection from misunderstandings
A Florida CWFL is valid for 7 years. Renewal notices are mailed, and the license can be renewed online, by mail, or in person at a tax collector’s office or regional licensing office.

Yes. Without a CWFL, the firearm must be securely encased (e.g., in a glovebox or zippered case). With a CWFL, you can carry it on your person or anywhere in the vehicle.
No. Florida prohibits open carry, except in limited circumstances like hunting, fishing, camping, or going to/from such activities.
No. Florida law does not require you to inform an officer during a stop, but it’s often advised to do so respectfully and calmly if asked.
