Colt London Agency Shipped Medium Frame Lightning Slide Action Saddle Ring Carbine with Heraldic Inscription and Factory Letter

$ 7999.99

A remarkable treasure for collectors, this Colt carbine offers a unique combination of historical significance, international provenance, and personalized charm. Shipped as part of a rare 20-piece order to the Colt Agency in London on August 31, 1885, this carbine retains its original 20-inch barrel, classic blue finish, and traditional wood stock, details authenticated by the included factory letter. It features both blade front and folding ladder rear sights, crisp two-line address and Elliot’s patent markings on the barrel, and “44 Cal.” boldly on the left side, with the iconic Rampant Colt emblem displayed on the receiver ahead of its saddle ring. Adding to its collectible appeal, this carbine sports a full set of British proof marks, such as the “crown/V” and “crown/GP,” the “rampant lion,” and an inverted “.420,” testifying to its time overseas. Unique to this rifle is the exquisitely engraved heraldic crest depicting a seated hound and the motto “FIONA/BE FAST”, the family crest and motto of Emmanuel Boutcher, renowned for building and racing two yachts named “Fiona.” The carbine’s creation date and the engraved yacht name suggest it was intended for use aboard the second “Fiona,” built in Gosport in 1879, granting this piece a fascinating maritime connection. Finished with a checkered forearm, smooth straight wrist buttstock, and steel buttplate, this carbine is not only a stunning example of Colt craftsmanship but also an extraordinary piece of sporting history that will be a highlight in any discerning collection.
