Colt Bisley Model Single Action Army Revolver in Desirable .45 Long Colt with Attractive Ivory Grips
Manufactured in 1873, the first year of production, this is a fine example of one of Colt’s New Line revolvers that was made very shortly after production commenced. These revolvers were introduced in 1873 alongside Colt’s legendary Single Action Army Revolver, with the intention that they would be a pocket sized companion for the new full-sized belt revolver. This example is marked with the two-line address on top of the barrel, and the matchings two-digit serial number is marked on the butt on the left of the barrel. The inside of the right grip panel is lightly scratched with “J. RYDER”. It is fitted with a German silver blade front sight, frame-top groove rear sight, and a pair of smooth rosewood grips.
Excellent, retains 90% plus bright blue finish with some minor fading on the back strap, and 95% vivid case colors with some very minor surface freckling. Grips are fine, with attractive grain, a nick at the top of the left grip, some age lines, and defined edges. Mechanically excellent.
