Very Fine Winchester Model 1894 Lever Action Takedown Rifle
Manufactured in 1908, this Winchester Model 1894 takedown rifle is a very fine example of the iconic lever-action rifle. It features Winchester factory oval proofs on the barrel and receiver at the breech, a mark that began in 1905. The barrel is stamped with the classic two-line address and patent dates, and the caliber marking is located on the upper left flat at the breech. The upper tang bears the three-line model and trademark, and the serial number is stamped on the bottom of the receiver.
The rifle is equipped with a Lyman beaded blade front sight, a blank filler in the rear sight dovetail, and a Lyman peep sight mounted on the left side of the receiver. It is mounted with a smooth forearm and a straight grip stock, finished with a crescent buttplate.
Very fine, retains 70% plus of the original blue finish, faint original case colors on the lever and hammer, and 60% of the original nitre blue on the loading gate, with some light flaking around the takedown collar and faint thinning on the receiver. The wood is fine with some scattered minor dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
