A highly collectible Griffin & Howe custom sporting rifle, completed around 1980 on a 1977-production Winchester Model 70 action and chambered in the classic dangerous-game .458 Win. Mag. With its documented “LOVELAND 1980” markings, Super Grade floorplate, premium G&H craftsmanship, fitted Redfield scope, and Huey oak-and-leather case with accessories, this is an exceptionally desirable piece for the serious American sporting-rifle collector.

Chambered in .458 Win. Mag., a legendary big-game and safari cartridge
Barrel and metalwork:

- “.458 WIN. MAG.” marked on the left side of the chamber
- “No. 2655 GRIFFIN & HOWE, INC. NEW YORK, NY” engraved on the top of the barrel
- Hooded beaded blade front sight mounted on a banded ramp base
- Three-leaf rear sight with two folding leaves and one standing leaf
- Gold-inlaid centerlines on the rear sight leaves for quick sight alignment
- Rear quarter rib is engraved and matted to reduce glare and add custom detail
- Barrel band with front sling eye

Exceptionally fine overall, retaining 99% G&H blued finish with minor handling evidence and sharp checkering on the stock and forend. Mechanically excellent. The handle is broken; otherwise, the case is very fine with some loose panel of baize. A great chance to own a wholly American dangerous game rifle!
