Factory Engraved Ithaca New Ithaca Double Grade 4 Double Barrel Shotgun

$ 4999.99

Manufactured in 1927, this Ithaca side-by-side shotgun is a handsome and highly collectible example of classic American gunmaking from the golden era of fine sporting arms. It is built with blued Best Fluid Steel barrels, a single brass bead sight set on a matted concave solid rib, tasteful light engraving at the breech, choke constrictions measuring .025 and .041 inches, and 2 3/4-inch chambers with extractor. The barrels are fitted to a casehardened boxlock action, beautifully accented with foliate scroll engraving surrounding a mallard on the left side and a pheasant cock on the right, with “ITHACA N.Y.” marked on both sides—details that give the gun strong period character and collector appeal. Desirable features include dual gold triggers, cocking indicators, and a tang-mounted manual safety. The furniture is especially attractive, with a gorgeous, highly figured forend featuring fancy fleur-de-lis checkering, an ebony tip insert, and engraved iron, paired with a pistol grip stock with checkered flats, a back polymer grip cap, a blank inscription shield, and a serrated buttplate. Stock dimensions are 1 3/8 inches drop at comb, 2 7/16 inches drop at heel, and a 14 1/8-inch length of pull, with an overall weight of 7 lbs. 2 oz. Elegant engraving, quality steel barrels, fine wood, and 1920s Ithaca craftsmanship make this an appealing acquisition for collectors and traditional sporting shotgun enthusiasts alike.

Condition

Very fine overall, retaining 95% original blue finish, 70% original case colors with the balance a fine silver patina, light handling evidence. The wood shows a few light marks, a replacement buttplate, and sharp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
