Colt M16A1 Selective Fire Rifle, Nine Million Serial Range, Class III/NFA Fully Transferable Machine Gun

$ 57999.99

Manufactured during the 1970s and 1980s, this Colt “9 million” serial range M16 is a highly desirable collector-grade example from a distinctive production category intended for commercial or export sale while still built to the same military-grade specifications as Colt’s domestic armed forces contract rifles. It retains the classic Vietnam-era A1 configuration that collectors prize, including a winged post front sight, A1-style flash hider on the “C MP CHROME BORE” marked barrel, bayonet lug, triangular handguard, and an “L M” marked upper receiver with a two-leaf windage-adjustable rear sight, fixed carry handle, short casing deflector, and teardrop forward assist. The lower receiver displays the standard markings on the left side and is fitted with a right-handed selector marked “SAFE/SEMI/AUTO,” an A1-pattern pistol grip, fixed A1-pattern buttstock, and black nylon sling. Internally, it features a matte black finished bolt head and carrier, with the bolt head marked “MPC” and the carrier marked “C” and serrated for the forward assist, along with a one-piece buffer, “7” and “C” marked hammer, and proper safe/semi/full internals. Also included is a “U.S. M7” marked bayonet, without scabbard, adding further period-correct appeal. With its sought-after Colt manufacture, military-grade construction, iconic A1 features, commercial/export “9 million” serial range distinction, and desirable included bayonet, this M16 stands out as an important and investment-worthy piece for advanced Colt, U.S. military, and Class III collectors.

Condition

Excellent with 98% of the original matte black finish with minor edge wear and handling marks on the metal and the furniture. Mechanically excellent. The bayonet is very fine, with light wear. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 479.
