Special Order Colt Deluxe Medium Frame Lightning Rifle
Manufactured in 1887. Combination Beach front sight and elevation adjustable rear sight on a barrel stamped with the two-line legend ahead of the rear sight and “38 Cal.” at the breech. The left side of the receiver has the Rampant Colt trademark. Equipped with a special order set trigger. The nicely figured deluxe walnut forearm and pistol grip stock feature multi-point checkering. The buttstock has a blank initial oval and crescent buttplate.
Fine. The barrel and magazine tube retain 60% faded original blue finish with brown patina on the balance. The casehardened receiver has mostly faded to a silver-gray. The buttplate has a smooth brown-gray patina. The wood is also fine with a number of minor dings, scratches and some blemishes in the overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
